While most of you girls are dreaming to fall in love with your prince charming, there are a few Cinderella’s who have already met their prince charming, who also happened to be real blue bloods. Here is a list of 10 commoners who married royals and are living happily ever after!!
1. Kate Middleton and Prince William
Kate Middleton born in Reading, England. Middleton met Prince William when she was studying Art history at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. They were friends first, and dated other people before they became a couple. Also they had their share of break-ups and patch-ups. Finally they married in April 2011. Middleton is now styled as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and they have two kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
2. Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III
Grace Kelly was born and brought up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later she became a successful film actress (she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her film The Country Girl). She reportedly met Prince Rainier III of Monaco at the Cannes Film Festival and married him in 1956. She moved to Monaco with the prince. The couple had three children. In 1982, she suffered a minor stroke while driving and was killed when the car went over the edge of a 45-foot embankment.
3. Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert II
Charlene Wittstock, born in Zimbabwe and later represented South Africa as swimmer in Olympics married Prince Albert II of Monaco (son of Princess Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III) in 2011. Wittstock gave birth to fraternal twins in 2014.
4. Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano and King Felipe VI
Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, now Queen Letizia of Spain, was a journalist and news anchor. In 2003, she became engaged to Felipe, who was then Prince of Asturias. The engagement was seen as a surprise not only because of her non-royal status, but also because this was her second marriage. The couple has two daughters.
5. Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip
Sofia Hellqvist was a model and a reality TV star. She married Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in 2015 and is now known as Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland. The couple’s first child together, Prince Alexander, was born in April, 2016.
6. Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden and Daniel Westling
Daniel who had served in the Swedish Army was later a gym owner and trainer. He met Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria when she wanted a personal trainer. The couple went public about their engagement in 2009, and wedding in June of 2010. They have two children.
7. Masako Owada and Crown Prince Naruhito
Masako Owada a graduate in economics from Harvard University returned to Japan to study law at University of Tokyo . She met Prince Naruhito in a formal social gathering. She accepted his proposal of marriage after denying him thrice! They have been married for more than 20 years. They have one daughter, Princess Aiko.
8. Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands
Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was working with Deutsche Bank in New York City when she met then-Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in 1999. Initially the prince introduced himself simply as “Alexander.” They married in 2002 and have three daughters. Máxima though is considered a commoner but she is a descendant of King Afonso III of Portugal through her father.
9. Rania Al-Yassin and King Abdullah II of Jordan
Rania Al-Yassin, born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents. She with her family fled to Jordan when Kuwait was invaded by Saddam Hussein. She studied at the American University in Cairo, and worked briefly at Citibank and Apple. She met then-Prince Abdullah of Jordan in Jan 1993 and married him in June same year. She and her husband became King and Queen of Jordan in 1999. They have four children.
10. Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O’Neill
Christopher O’Neill born in London and graduated in international relations from Boston University. He is an American-British financier. Princess Madeleine, the sister of Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip, married Christopher O’Neill in 2013. O’Neill does not hold a title, and he declined Swedish citizenship. As a private citizen, he has been able to continue his career in finance.
