BSF Jawan video goes viral.
Accusing top officials of corruption.
Bringing the plight of Jawans in front of everyone.

And that’s the moment of joy for our beloved media and social media tycoons.

Everyone going gaga over the story. Trying to extract maximum profit out of it. Responsibility, Integrity, Morality are not as charming as Monetary Profit.

Soldier in uniform with a gun in hand expressing his anguish on ill-treatment of Jawan. A perfect recipe for a block-buster hit.

perception

But nobody saw a number of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Citizens in the Friend’s List of Mr. Tej Bahadur Yadav.

I was never convinced with the Audio associated with the Video. I mean, only one chapati for breakfast, that is too much to digest. Lunch looks decent considering, the soldiers are on a forward post in difficult terrain.

Have a look for yourself. As soon as the video starts, He asks kya bana.  Someone says “Matar bana, ye dekh”. We can also see some spicy food in the Utensil. However, Mr Yadav chooses to comment on dal which has got only Haldi and Namak.

Cmon man, Dal with Haldi and Namak is a normal food in an Indian Middle Class family (including mine). What is there to feel so disgruntled.

You have nice hot chapatis with dal and that Vegetable (which very conveniently you ignored to get more sympathy). Is the lunch actually that bad. Just mute the Audio and look at the Video again. If that is bad then, he does not even know what is bad. During long deployments both Officer and Men get food which you cannot even imagine. However, they don’t create a fuss because they are trained and motivated. So is it about the food or something else.

It looks more like creating An Officer – Jawan Rift. Though BSF is part of para military forces, such issue does percolate into all other forces and affects the morale adversely.

If the issue was really about food. There are mess men, mess committee etc. he could have raised his issue there. If he thought they were not competent enough to address this issue. He should have taken up the issue with his Company Commanders. To put forward a strong opinion he could have given a written complaint to them. If Company Commander was not competent, he could have gone to the level of 2IC or the Commanding Officer. If they were not competent, he could have gone up to ADG or the DGs.

Did he do any of the above ??

Assuming he did put forward a written complaint and no action were taken, then why a copy of written complaint does not appear in his video.

He had all the time in the world to shoot and post such videos, but he couldn’t manage to bring out even one single proof that he had complained to his superiors and they did not take any action.

Ask that question to yourself. If there is an issue in your house or at workplace, what do you do ? You first complaint to your own people or you straight away call up President of India.

Anyway, there we can have a difference in opinion. So I will not dwell further. Moving ahead I bring out something that will definitely startle you.

Presenting the other side.

I happen to scan through the profile of Mr Tej Bahadur Yadav and I found something fishy. At first look, I was amused to see his pics in uniform at forward posts posted all over facebook from time to time, which is a severe case of indiscipline and gross negligence and insult to military rules and regulations. Anyway ….

Here is Facebook profile of Mr. Tej Bahadur Yadav

Now that, it is clear that his profile ID is /rohitkumar.yadav.75457. Let’s move ahead. (Pay close attention to the URL seen on all the pics in this article.)

Then I had a look at his friend list. He had a lot of friends. By lot, I mean actually a lot. That’s not the interesting part. His Friend’s list has many names from India and quite a few from Pakistan.

Yes, you got that right, it’s Pakistan.

I am sure, Mr Yadav and our liberal media will have a valid explanation for this also.

Still, let’s have a look at the friend’s list of Mr Yadav. I am repeating Pay close attention to the URL of links mentioned below for authenticity, in case some one says its Fake.

Some of the Dubious Names I was able to find out in the friend’s list of Mr Yadav in first scan are as Follows

  • Asad Hayat
  • Md Khalil
  • Mohd Khalil
  • Adnan Aslam
  • Adnan Sattar
  • Aslam Khan (most interesting)

Names look absolutely fine. But it is not, because none of them are Indian Citizens. These are just a few names that I saw, there must be lot more.

Let us have a closer look at each one of them.

His Facebook profile displays following Information:-

Some of us do have Friends and relatives in Pakistan. After all, we belong to same big family separated by Political border drawn in 1947.

But, does it look like that names in the list happen to be Relatives of Mr Yadav. Well, I don’t know ….. decide for yourself.

BSF Jawan uploading videos, creating quite a Storm. And this is what we find in his facebook profile. Connection with Pakistani and Bangladeshi Citizens who happen to have friends in Pak Army. Not sure what to make out of this.

So, there is something more to it than what actually meets the eye.

I will not pass any judgment and leave the subject here. Now, Let me move on to the Officers and Jawans in Forces.

Those who do not know Indian Armed Forces, An Officer lives and dies with this motto

The safety, honour and welfare of your country come first, always and every time

The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.

Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always and every time

The Officer does everything, even to the peril of his life to protect Men under him.

And the Jawan does not think twice before sacrificing his life for his Officer.

Such is the relation between a Jawan and an Officer.

They both Complement one another, They Complete One another.

And this beautiful relationship can be understood only by very few.

It is because of this relationship that Indian Armed Forces have given this Nation Victory in all Wars. Yes, those chest-thumping moment that we all get when we hear about 1965, 1971 or Kargil.

Let us not act as catalyst in the fire. Let us not blame the most prestigious organisation in this country with half cooked knowledge. Let us not fall prey to the Media and Social Media companies who just want TRP and clicks on their website. Let us not get played in their hands.

Let us Stand by our Forces.

PS : This post will not go viral because it does not suit the taste of Intellectuals of Social Media. It’s you who can make this truth Viral. In few days you will see all the facebook links that I have posted will disappear from Internet. So act fast and before acting fast check authenticity  for yourself.

I am not sure, sir, what’s happening, but to play a devil’s advocate, if I remember correctly, the Army has warned the soldiers from being honeytrapped by Pakistanis in quest for military intelligence. Are we really sure these people are not of the category? Everything would have worked out well, had not for that link to a Pakistani soldier. But whatever it is, this seriously warrants an investigation, investigation not just of the soldier but of everyone in Indian Army and everyone in India of note. I guess government is capable of approaching Facebook to get the list of friends to the third degree or fourth degree to avoid a level of obfuscation. Had this not been done by now, it’s high time it’s done now.

    • Amit

I agree with Balakrishna Chadalawada. He has got a very valid point. Govt should crack the whip on people involved in selling ration for personal gain. However, it is just not normal for a Jawan to have Friends from Bangladesh and Pakistan. I am sure many Indians have Pakistani & Bangladeshi friends. But when there are orders not to reveal own identity or put pics in uniform or put pics of operational area, having pakistani nationals in friend list is actually too much, and moreover friend has a friend in Pak Army. There is something known as “responsibility”. Had he not posted the video, even then he has proved that he has no regards for the rules and regulations. There is always a correct way of dealing with things. Ideally, the Jawan should have directly named the personnel involved to his Seniors. There are numerous channels to redress grievances. Such problems do occur. And it occurs in many organisations.

What Social Media has done is incorrect. They have painted the whole organisation (BSF) as corrupt. To a common man, today it appears as if whole of BSF consists only of people who are corrupt. Officers and men from the same organisation have sacrificed their life for us. Insulting BSF means insulting our martyrs too. We get swayed easily by the Media companies who just want sensation and plays with our emotions.

There is always a other side and there is nothing wrong in exploring The Other Side.

  • Tejpal Singh

Whatever may be made of his intentions, but one thing for sure I can tell you that there is large scale pilferage of Jawas’ rations and it happens in not only BSF but all the armed forces as well. I have myself been a member of armed forces and know that it’s rampant everywhere. And do you know that a jawan can’t even raise his voice, leave alone a jawan even honest officers can’t raise their voice. If they do, they are declared mentally unstable and referred to Army / navy / airforce hospital for mental evaluation where they’re most likely to be admitted in their mental ward and even if they are found fit to be discharged from the mental ward, a Form (probably Form 10) needs to come from the commanding officer for accepting him back, if he doesn’t want the jawan/ officer back, his medical fitness category will be downgraded and discharged from the service from the hospital itself as mentally unfit to serve with meagre pension. The poor person can’t even get a civil job as he is declared mentally unfit. This is the biggest weapon in the hands of the corrupt bosses. Under these circumstances who will take such a big risk.. That’s why so many suicides happening in the forces.

    • Gaganjit Singh Ahluwalia

This is Form 10. I haapen to search it on google. I dont find anything wrong with it. It just looks like a procedure. Pls read the text for yourself.

      REFERENCE FOR PAYCHIATRIC EXAMINATION, DIAGNOSIS,
TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL OF SERVING PERSONNEL AND THEIR
      FAMILIES SUFFERING FROM PSYCHIATRIC DISORDER.

      REFERENCE FOR PSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATION:
      1. An entitled person may be referred to a service psychiatrist under the following
      circumstances: –
      (a) When he/she reports to the authorized medical attendant (AMA) with
symptoms, which the latter considers might be due to a psychiatric illness. AMA
is defined the para 287 of RMSAF 1983.
      (b) When the relatives/friends of a patient bring him or her to the AMA with
      history suggestive of psychiatric illness.
      (c) When MCO, Military Police/Civil Police, a registered medical
practitioner, a responsible government servant or a member of the public brings
or sends an entitled person to the authorized medical attendant with a report of
      features suggestive of psychiatric illness
      (d) When a patient already under treatment of AMA shows signs and
symptoms suggestive of a psychiatric illness.
      (e) When the OC of a unit or detachment requests for psychiatric examination
of one of the personnel of his unit. Such request should invariably in writing with
an AFMSF-10 to the AMA. The latter will refer him/her to the psychiatrist.
In the AFMSF-10 CO must outline briefly the usual nature of a particular
person, the nature of abnormal changes noted by him or communicated to him and
his own personal impression on the matter. AFMSF-10 shall be a confidential
      document.
      (f) When a person is placed on charge for an offence and it is suspected that
he/she might have suffered or is suffering from a psychiatric illness, the CO or the
Presiding Officer of court martial may seek psychiatric consultation for the person
through the AMA. It is mandatory for the AMA to refer all such cases to the
nearest service psychiatrist. CO of the person will send all documents as per AO
13/2001 (equivalent Navy/Air Force orders) and AFMSF-10 along with the
      psychiatric referral.
      2. AFMSF-10: – Only formalizes in a structured format the reasons, circumstances
and circumstances and other relevant background information suggesting the
possibility of a psychiatric illness/need for psychiatric examination in the opinion
of the CO. It has no derogatory connotation or adverse administrative/legal
implications and cannot be made into a grievance/locus of a subsequent
      complaint.

There should not be any hesitation or apprehension in initiating AFMS-10. This
report is a significant input and helps in holistic evaluation of the case. It is thus
an essential requirement and should be rendered expeditiously by the
Commanding Officer when asked for by the AMA/psychiatrist. The CO has no
discretion in the matter and delay in forwarding the same invariably results in
delayed disposal of the case. It must be emphasized that psychiatric assessment
and disposal of the suspected case will be on the clinical assessment and not on
      AFMSF-10

People in Forces comes from the same strata of society. They are bound to have some aberrations. As per you what is the ratio of Morally upright and corupt personnel in forces.
Any comment on the Officers who put their life at stake for saving men under them, Or Subedars shielding their havaldars, Havaldars saving their Naiks, Or Naiks ready to die for his Officer.

  • Anish

First of all lets agree on few things. 1. One who are involved in corrupt practices must not just be punished but discharged from service. 2. Having pakistani national in friend list doesnt make your a traitor.
    Moving On …..
Followers and Friends are different. You can have followers from anywhere. However, you need to approve the request in order to add someone in your friend list.
There is nothing wrong in having friends fro Pakistan or Bangladesh, even though they might have military connection.
But all personnel in forces are advised regularly on using social media. There are strict rules and guidelines. I know of few senior Officers court marshalled for this offence somewhere in 2010-2012 (was in news). They have to exercise utmost caution cos there is no end to honeytraps.
But look at this guy, go through his timeline. He has regularly posted pics in uniform that too in fwd posts. No regards for rules.
Look at the frequency of his posts. In operational areas, there is a lot of connectivity issues and you are not even allowed to carry your mobile phone all the time. Then how does he manage to be so frequent on facebook.
When he knows that he belongs to Uniformed Services, how can he be so naive to add friends from Pakistan. You and me dont exchange bullet everyday with Pak. But BSF does. They are always in a state of war with Pak. So friend request from Pakistan should ring a bell.
He has already applied for VRS and has also accepted in an interview over phone call that there has been disciplinary cases against him in the past.

I dont think this guy is a Traitor, but is definately indisciplined.
(by the way, I also belong to the family of an Army Jawan)

  • Narendra

Let us not mix up the issues. Deal with the actual problem…if there is one. The incident must be investigated and the Commanding Officer and other officers responsible for pushing him to do this must be fixed. Finally its the officers who are responsible for maintaining the morale of their troops. They had miserably failed here.

  • Aarav Singh

What’s is the problem with whosoever is the author of this article. We all know internally what happened to the ration of the armed forces. If he rasied the voice against the quality of food what’s the isse?

And like ever other thing in his country now a days, if you speak anti establishment, people will try mark you as Deshdrohi or friend of Pakistan. I have friends from Pakistan and I am an equal Patriot and even more than these posers. Stop putting doubts in people mind and let’s investigation to complete.

    • Gaganjit Singh Ahluwalia

I dont know, what happens internally. Please share your knowledge with all of us.

    • Vikram Singh Rajput

Are you even aware of the fact that people in forces need to declare their connections / relationships with foreign nationals. You can be whatever you want in your personal life but the same doesnot hold good for soldiers. If you fail only you will get affected, nobody is bothered. If they fail the nation will collapse.
Are you aware of something known as Abrogation of fundamental rights mentioned in constitution. Now please dont say that constitution is wrong.

  • The author was not in the favor of painting the whole organisation as corrupt just because few men in forces have brought disgrace to the Service.

People have little to no knowledge about rules and regulations in the forces and about our Constitution. And its perfectly fine. Its not possible to know everthing under the sun. Bit its not okay to bring to disrespect to esteemed organisations because of ignorance.

It is hard to believe that today Organisations like Indian Armed Forces and BSF are seen as organisation which consists of nothing but corupt Men. Have you all forgotten all wars, rescue of indian from Yemen, rescue ops during kedarnath disaster. Who bailed us out ? When a disaster strucks they become our gods and at other times something else.

It is the same organisation which has come to our rescue when nobody could. How convenient is to forget the bravehearts who have given the supreme sacrifice for this nation.
We need to act responsibly, instead of focussing on the few corrupt men, we are taking pleasure in demeaning these prestigious organisations.

Author has brought to light an angle which nobody is ready to see. There is something fishy about the account from where these videos are posted. Activities on the post are not in sync with rules and regulations in the forces.

Civilians and soldiers dont have same level of fundamental rights. Its okay for you to have pakistani friends and pass opinion in public but it is not the same for people in Uniform. Those who do not know this, please read up article 33 of our constitution.

How do you justify violating rules and regulations and also what is laid in constitution. if a soldier cant live and die his constituion, who will.

People in Forces are reflection of our very own society. Dont expect them to be demi-gods.
There will be dishonest and corrupt people. And we need to take action those few instead of blaming the Organisations.
