Do we really understand the Officer-Jawan Relationship

So, a video of a personal rant of an alcoholic BSF Jawan with a history of repeated cases of insubordination and breaking of ranks has gone viral. And all the hyper-nationalists are jumping up and about. I would sincerely ask them to keep their emotions in check.

I have been the part of Army life my whole life. I used to get food from my sahayak bhaiya (jawan) from langar (jawan and other rank’s mess). Chicken on Sat, Monday and Wednesday in dinner, Dosa and Idli on sunday mornings and Puri-Sabji on weekdays morning. They are tasty food. My dad was also posted in field and semi field postings near border.

Do we really understand the issue

I moved around with him in semi-field but not field postings as families are not allowed there. And even in modified / semi-field postings, the food was good.

However, the problem with frontline areas sometimes is that supply lines are pretty weak and food supply becomes scanty sometimes due to weak transportation due to terrain and weather.

7 CPC. Why Military is unhappy – The growing disparity

It is a local problem at the Battalion / Company level and not Pan India Forces problem.

To say that officers at battalion levels are siphoning off jawans ration to make a few thousand bucks extra is a pretty idiotic theory. To begin with, since most officers are healthily paid, no officer would risk his career and prospect of higher ranks in future like that for a few thousand extra bucks. (Punishment for Financial Irregularity is Court Martial)

Moreover, the Jawan in question has lost respect in my eyes because he broke the chain of command. Almost all problems addressed to the officer sent over by the jawans are always taken care of.

Armed Forces live on the basic concept of “Naam, Namak and Nishaan” and “izzat” is paramount.

Now to go beyond the chain of command and compromising the “izzat” of your faction, even if it is BSF is not only selfish but also unbecoming of a wardi-waala.

An Officer-Jawan relationship is the backbone of the Army, which in turn is the backbone of this country. Any idiot that tries to undermine or threaten that relationship like the said Jawaan here for whatever reasons it may be, is not just an enemy to me but also my country.

You can make whatever conclusions of my post. I don’t partake in participation for convincing a person, beyond a certain point in matters of Armed forces.
